Into the Garden of Gethsemane | The Beginning of Christ’s Agony (Meditation 1)

In this first meditation from The Hours of the Passion, we enter the quiet darkness of the Garden of Gethsemane — the place where the suffering of Christ began in earnest.

Before the arrest, before the trials, before the cross, there was a night of prayer, sorrow, and submission to the will of the Father.

These reflections are drawn from the writings associated with the visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich. They are not Scripture, but devotional meditations intended to help readers contemplate more deeply the events recorded in the Gospels.

Through this meditation we walk slowly into the garden where our Lord prayed while His disciples slept, and where the weight of the world’s sin began to press upon Him.

Take a few moments to listen, reflect, and place yourself within the scene.
