In this Bible study, we review the restrainer language in 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2 and compare Paul’s description of the man of sin with the Beast imagery in Revelation 13.
This study focuses on the distinction between the neuter and masculine language in 2 Thessalonians 2. The “what withholdeth” points to the restraining purpose of God, especially the fullness of the Gentiles being realized as the gospel continues to go to the nations. The “he who now letteth” points to the personal Restrainer — God Himself — who governs the timing of the final unveiling.
We also compare the man of sin with the Antichrist/Beast pattern in Revelation 13, where deception, false worship, signs, wonders, and satanic power are used to lead the world into rebellion.
